Our History
About The Notty Room
The story of The Notty Room begins in 1955, when the establishment first opened its doors as Chet’s Place, becoming a beloved gathering spot for the Oroville and Thermalito communities. For decades, it served as a welcoming neighborhood destination where friends, family, and locals could come together to enjoy good company, great conversations, and a sense of community.
In 1985, Chet’s Place entered a new chapter and became The Notty Room, carrying forward the same spirit of hospitality and local tradition that had made it a community landmark for generations.
Today, The Notty Room proudly continues that legacy, offering a friendly atmosphere, cold drinks, great food, live entertainment, karaoke, pool, special events, and the kind of small-town hospitality that keeps people coming back. Whether you’re a longtime regular or visiting for the first time, you’ll find a place where everyone is welcome and treated like family.
For more than 70 years, this historic establishment has remained a cornerstone of the Oroville and Thermalito area, creating memories and bringing people together through generations of change.
At The Notty Room, we’re more than just a bar—we’re a living piece of local history. We are honored to continue serving the community that has supported us since 1955 and look forward to welcoming friends old and new for many years to come.
